"I thinking Sleeping Onstage was my first ever full length solo release.

There had been a track or two on compilations before, but as an entire thing, this was it"

"Sleeping Onstage: just side a and side b. There are titles for many sections, but since it was compiled without listening, I didn’t take notes of what’s included, and since it was done in June 1989 I have long since forgotten exactly what’s on it and probably there are sections I won’t be able to identify anyway."

"Sleeping Onstage was one of my favourite releases, because of the randomness. There’s 4-track recordings, live recordings, and a bunch of tape-monstering. A few guest appearances scattered throughout."

"I literally wasn’t listening when I compiled it, and it was done while I was still Stewart Bizarro, which means I had an annoying attitude (for example, that long silence which you have edited out, was sheer chance at the time, but I was pleased with it being included because of the annoyance factor)"

"It was done right after I returned from staying with Costes & Lisa in Paris. I returned home and the others (Neil C, Stream, Sticky) all went to Italy. And then on I think June 20th was the first Collingham Festival, only a few dozen people were there, and I gave people copies of Sleeping Onstage."

"The date of the Collingham thing was Saturday June 17th. My diary says I gave away all the copies of Sleeping Onstage except for the ones that I taped over with people’s sets."

"12th June I moved into the house where I made the tape, and 17th June I gave away all copies. Them’s the dates. Hurrah for stupidly detailed diaries."
