about

(30-11-02) whiling away the hours with pretending to create songs for an album called "The Inexhaustible Quest For The Cosmic Cabbage" which I shall record in 2003...

(2-1-03) I've just recorded "Why Not Use A Shopping Basket?" onto the "Ideas for QFC" tape, which until today I'd not used since November 15th, the day I took the frets off my guitar & recorded the first QFC song "Smooth Away".

(3-1-03) When I woke up this morning I had the idea, probably inspired by the title, that "QFC" should be a concept album, a space opera about the search for Utopia in space.

(10-1-03) I recorded an instrumental on "Ideas for QFC" . Two days ago I forgot to mention here that I did a couple such.

(15-1-03) I recorded 2 'QFC' instrumentals & called them "ditto" & "whistlin' ditto"

(23-1-03) 'QFC' doesn't have to be super-fantastic words or super-fantastic music, because such things belong to the Cosmic Cabbage itself, whereas 'QFC' just describes the Inexhaustible Quest for it, the search for it. So now it's no longer a Space Rock Opera, it's a No-Space No-Rock No-Opera & the words can be absurds & the music can be as Madison as the Mashed Potato.
I recorded some more instrumentals for QFC, including one I titled "No Space, No Ritual"

(25-1-03) I recorded some Zoom606 noises on the 4-track for QFC

(25-2-03) Today I recorded some Casio tunes at the end of side 1 of "Ideas for QFC". I'm going off that title "The Inexhaustible Quest For The Cosmic Cabbage" , I think it's the Cosmic Cabbage bit that's wrong. "The Inexhaustible Quest For..." is good, but needs something mundane at the end. Hey! That's an idea: " The Inexhaustible Quest For Something Mundane" Or maybe "Something Dull" would be better.

(27-2-03) Recorded "Something Dull, Where Are You?" on "Ideas for QFC"

(26-4-03) Today I finished the "Ideas for QFC" tape with a piece called "Fibonacci" (which I managed to play up to 233)

(27-4-03) yesterday, after having created "Fibonacci" I met a bloke on the bus to Hereford who had been playing the Fibonacci series on his piano around the same time as my guitar version. Synchro!
